Cooper has been begging me to let him use the camera, I finally let him tonight. This is his first picture with the camera. Not to bad, if you ask me.
The purpose of this blog is to allow our family and friends to stay connected with us and the kids.

What a weekend...
We have been debating bunk beds for quite some time. The boys are in the same room with toddler beds. Cooper, at 4.5 yrs of age, is finally outgrowing his toddler bed. With a third boy coming in just a few short months (yes, for those that didn't know, it's another boy) we need to create some more space.
After my week of being on the couch and in the house, I decided that Friday night we should venture out to search for the perfect bunk beds. We FINALLY found a store that had some, they were "ok", nothing great, but they would work. I wanted to check Weekends Only, my favorite furniture store, Travis drove there.... They store was gone!!!! It was there 9 months ago when we bought new family room furniture, it was an empty building now. We came home and I got back online to find a location of Weekends Only. I found 4 locations in the St. Louis area. We ventured out Saturday morning after breakfast hoping to be gone a few hours, and home in time for lunch and in time for me to resume my hobby of holding down the couch. We got to the first store, they had the perfect beds! Twin over twin bunk beds with a trundle! (Yes, 3 beds!!!!) They were perfect, the color was perfect, the price was perfect, I wanted them! They didn't have any in stock, they told us to check another store, that happened to be 40 minutes away. We get the boys settled in the van and begin our treck to the other location. We get there, find the beds on the floor, find a salesman who is more than willing to help, tell him we will take them that day! We go to check out, and proceed to sit for 45 minutes. THEY DON'T HAVE ANY IN STOCK!!!! They check the computers, none of the stores have any in stock. Now we have to wait 3-4 weeks to get the perfect bunk beds.
The good news is, after Travis brought me home to nap, he took the boys out to buy "big boy" comforters and sheets. They are amazing. The boys don't like the sheets because they aren't Superman and Batman, but I love them. They match the comforters (3 shades of blue stripes). Without the beds, we are going to paint the room, that way when the beds come in, all we will have to do it assemble them and teach Nelson not to jump off the top bunk like Superman.

Still a cool mom!
At 6 months prengant, I managed to still ferry my boys from one end of the pool to the other, on my back! It was a lot harder than I thought it would be. We also tackled the water slide, but those pictures didn't turn out.
Nelson and I are pretending to be Superman and Supergirl, flying thru the water.

Swimming with the cousins.
Superman is still in the house.
Nelson is still Superman! I am amazed at how different my parents are now that they are grandparents. If my brothers or sister and I EVER attempted to climb the fireplace we would have been punished. When Nelson does it as Superman they giggle, take pictures of it, and share the picture with everyone they know.
The boys and I are back from our vacation

It's official...
I'm a soccer mom. Travis and the boys and I just got back from trading in my Blazer for a minivan. It's really pretty (I can say that about a car, I think) as far as minivans go. It's a light sage green, with leather interior, and my favorite feature is the push button that opens and closes the sliding doors. We pick it up tomorrow, I will then post pictures for all of your to ohh and ahhh over!
Shanelle, when you come to town in a few weeks I'll even let you sit in it!

Snack time!!
The boys live for 3 PM, that's snack time in our house. Today they decided to snack outside and enjoy the mild weather. Cooper decided 85-degrees was too "cold" for shorts and insisted on wearing blue jeans. Thankfully he left the hoodie sweatshirt inside.
Yes, Nelson hasn't outgrown his Superman phase. He is still convinced that he is no longer Nelson Chase, and that instead he is Superman.

TWINKIE MADNESS!!!
If you are pregnant, have been pregnant, or have known someone pregnant you *might* appreciate this little story...
It all started on Wed of last week when the Twinkie craving hit me at 11PM. I tried to get Travis to crave the evil little yellow cakes with me and it didn't work. So I put myself in the car and drove to the grocery store to get a box of the sponge cake goodness. I came home, enjoyed a couple (yes, more than one) and went to bed. The rest of the week I prepared for our weekend away.
Come Friday, on the road to Kankakee, the craving hit again... Sit back, enjoy the story and don't laugh too hard at me.
I had to go to the bathroom, Cooper had to go, and we wanted Nelson to try. Travis decides since we are good on gas to just go to one of those rest areas on the side of the interstate. Me being wise beyond my years and the keeper of the checkbook point out that gas on the road is going to be cheaper than at his mom's. (In St. Louis we can get gas for $2.85 by his mom the cheap station is $3.07) I convince him to stop at a gas station and fill up so we don't have to get gas over the weekened while we are visiting family.
As we start looking for a gas station the truth comes out... I WANT A TWINKIE!!! Rest areas don't have them, gas stations do. He's laughing at me, I'm almost in tears becasue I want one so bad and he thinks it's funny. When is this man going to learn that a craving is a serious matter?!?!?!
Anyway, we pull into a gas station, I start pumping gas, he takes the boys and goes in to use the bathroom. I'm minding my own business, pumping away, and dreaming about the twinkie I am seconds from enjoying. All of a sudden there is a voice over the entire gas station intercom.... "Maam on pump 7, I just wanted to let you know we just sold out of twinkies!" I'm out there yelling at the attendent. I have all the eyes of the other gas pumpers on me (roughly 7 people pumping the gas plus a car full of teenagers looking at me with a mix of fear and disgust.) and I have tears welling up in my eyes becasue I'm afraid I will never taste a twinkie again.
I walk in, Travis and the boys are laughing, the attendant is laughing, the people in line for the bathroom are laughing. Travis had her tell me they werer out of twinkies. He thought it would be funny... good news, I got twinkies and hostess cupcakes and also ate them all before we got to his mom's house.

Weekend fun
We were able to go up to Kankakee this past weekend and enjoy a reunion with Travis' aunt, whom is home from the mission field in Brazil. She hadn't seen Nelson since he was 2 weeks old. She brought home Brazil soccer shirts for everyone (including our little one, not yet here.) We had to get a picture of the boys (yes, only grandsons) and their aunt, uncles, and great-aunt showing off the new threads.
(It might help some of you if I point out who is in my family... Travis is the bald one in the top row. Cooper is the last one in the second to the bottom row, and Nelson is the bottom row/kid holding the soccerball.)
Finally...
After almost 7 yrs in our "temporary" home we have decided to make it easier for family and friends to keep up with us and our boys!
Check back often, I will try my hardest to keep you updated on us and what we are doing.
Be prepared for several pictures of the boys and the dogs, they are my favorite subjects. Travis too, but he has to work 8+ hrs a day so I can be home with the boys and dogs.
